Shoe design from plastic waste

Special project with the group Waste for Life to design products that could be replicated and produced by the pickers in Buenos Aires for marketing.

As one of the main materials that meet the pickers are plastic bags, next to the CEP of the FADU UBA ( where he works the architect Carlos Levinton ) developed a press that makes plastic sheets that serve as a new material.

The idea of student work was to use this material to design easy to manufacture objects that could be replicated by rubbish, and the work of one of them, Louie Rigano, were these cool rain boots.

They are made ??by hand and between exchanges have merged mesh cheesecloth ( fabric type dither gauze ).  According to the student, are very easy to make and leave in place a pattern molds to replicate.  The same, of course, is that agradandarlos scale to fit our foot in the mold of the sole.

Super interesting for a project at home, and as an alternative to the cardboard to put added value to what they collect.  All designs made by students will be approached to CEP and cardboard to be considered for production.  In the meantime, you can try them at home with those bags more.
